Heading North

The arrival of my second child signalled a strong “nature urge”. I wanted to nest and to grow things.

In 1998 my husband, two children and I moved to Garden Cottage set in an acre of walled garden in the small hamlet of Pitnacree, near Pitlochry, where we live, and where my clinic is today.

As well as getting obsessive about home grown food – fruit and veg from the garden, eggs from the hens and honey from my own hives, I established a thriving herb garden from which I make many of my own herbal tinctures. The garden has reduced somewhat as a life-long disability from having had polio as a child begins to limit me more, but also, it's time to be less driven.

In 2001 I attended a three week long 'Introduction to Permaculture Design' course held at Findhorn in North Scotland. The wise learnings I gleaned continue to influence my life designs.
